2.9 Km Challenge
The Perth Wildlife Reserve is between where we are staying and the town of Perth. I wanted to see it and Ted wanted to build up his strength by taking a short walk. He is hoping to spend some time at the Cultivate Festival on the weekend. That requires walking. Not that long ago, walking 15 km was no problem, but last week, walking to the mailbox was a big challenge. Changes in medications have set him back.

The 3.5 km of trails look like this!!!! All mowed and fairly flat. It felt like walking on a soft carpet. I felt like taking my shoes off.

Red fall colours are starting to show in the wetter areas.

There even was a bench across from an information board.

Dogwood berries are beautiful at this time of year.

The Reserve has some different ecosystems like this low-lying area.....

.... and a wooded section that is only a few feet of elevation higher.
Hmmmm.... mushrooms!

Where there is one mushroom, often there are more mushrooms. And, mushrooms that don't look like mushrooms at first glance. I thought these two were pieces of trash. INaturalist is suggesting it is a type of puffball. I guess they haven't puffed yet.

Aren't these interesting?

It would have been interesting to have a trail-cam focused on this one. I wonder who tasted it?

We had hoped to make it round the loop, but Ted was getting tired. We were very happy to turn around get back to that one bench so he could rest for a while.

While Ted rested, I notice some colour beyond the shrubbery at the edge of the pathway.

Look at those reflections!!!

And a blurry image of the same scene had its own beauty.....

.. and back to focused just a short distance away was equally beautiful

It was worth stopping for a rest.
For both of us.
