45th Anniversary - We are a bit Quirky
Updated: 3 minutes ago
We've been waiting for this day all summer. Our 45th anniversary was on July 4, but both of our kids' families were not able to get together with us until today. That was what we thought until this morning when one came down with pink eye and another had a rush job she needed to complete. The best laid plans.....
It's lovely when everyone finds a way to make the day wonderful. Breakfast dishes done and....

.... measurements needed to be taken. Getting close!

Time to pick some flowers to....

.... pretty up the table.....

.... and the girls.

It is interesting how, of all the flowers in the gardens, they chose my favourite one to put in their hair. I never told them that it is my favourite.

To make life easier for all, we picked up our feast at Adonis in Scarborough. We wanted the grandkids to experience some Middle Eastern food.

The kids insisted that we serve ourselves first.

Decisions were made about what to try...

.... and the food was proclaimed good.

It's a tradition around here to serve basil seed drinks for our family gatherings. I love how cool the light coming through Charlotte's bottle looks.

After dinner, the Stuffy Met Gala took place. I didn't know were were going to be entertained. And, little did I know how interesting this event is. Here's a list of the whose who and what they represent:
Big Liony - it's O.K. to be a bit chunky
Bear - women can play sports
Pink Flaminko - everyone can work together and get along
Ollie (dog) - Met Gala Forever
Owly - protesting war and homophobic people
LambLamb - Men can wear dresses
Pigota - women can wear suits and it's O.K. to be dirty
Monkey - it's O.K. to be nerdy
Little Liony - Protect the Earth

Muscles were exercised....

... and a dog's wishes did not come true.

Tiny Dutch spoons were dug out of the cutlery drawer and....

.... desserts were cut up and shared.

So, I'll admit we are a bit quirky. One of the grandkids' favourite memory is of playing baseball with mole-eaten potatoes. We didn't have any potatoes, but rotting tomatoes? and cucumbers? Well, yes we do!

There were near hits.....

... and exceptional smashes.

While the remaining men relaxed on the sidelines....

.... extreme effort was invested in....

.... completely obliterating a tomato.

Nice job.

Yes. We are a bit quirky.

And that's O.K.
