Almost Time for a Rest
The sunlight had a cool (as opposed to warm - not "Oh, that's so cool!) look to it this morning. Inside the greenhouse, Mesclun greens that were transplanted this past week are looking like the've taken hold and are growing.

Many of the flowers in our pollinator row are still blooming and looking pretty

Our rye cover crop/green manure is coming up nicely. I may remove some more finished plants tomorrow and seed more rye. It may be too late, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. We'll see.

Oops! Weeds! Last week's, mini-vacation is to blame. It's interesting how just one type of weed is choosing to grow at this time of year.

Hopefully, we will see Charlotte over the Thanksgiving weekend. There will be a pumpkin delivery then.....

.... and on the subject of pumpkins..... this one is still hanging in there.

At the recent Common Ground Festival at Headwaters Farm, I learned that the sign of a good compost pile is that it grows mushrooms. I guess we are doing something right

To me it seems that this may be a "mast year" Fruits and nuts and seeds are bountiful

These chrysanthemums were here when we bought this place 26 years ago. Buying good perrennials when you are young is a good financial decision. Cost/year by the time you get to our age is cents.

Many of the perennials have shut down after a prolific summer of blossoms.

It's almost time for a rest.
Speaking of rest:
“Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day,
but set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.”
Terry Pratchett
