A Bracing Wind This Morning

I was the first to arrive at our trailhead today. Time to notice that spring is coming. Aren't maple buds a lovely colour at this time of year?

We need to start with our sponsor.

Bracing. The word bracing is our sponsor. As our hike leader gathered us together to make introductions and explain the route, she said, "There is a bracing wind this morning,......" Can you tell that some of us were really prepared for the bracing wind?

We headed out quickly.

I love the look of this morning's shadows.

There is not much snow left in this part of Northumberland. Today, we started on Williamson Road, just north of Bickle Hill Road. The route took us to Camborne via Kennedy Road and back to Williamson on Jibb. Looks like a "P" on the map - a little over 9 km all together.

Garbage is starting to show in the ditches.

A couple of times along the route, the speedier hikers stopped to rest and catch up with each other while...

... the other half just caught up. 23 hikers came out despite our sponsor.

There are some lovely views of Lake Ontario on this route.

And, the roads were pretty quiet this morning.

Near the end, a fellow hiker said something like this: "Sometimes, I think I should wimp out on a hike. But, I have never been on a hike that I've regretted."

By the end of the hike, I'd taken off my hat. Maybe spring is coming soon. Despite this morning's sponsor.

And, whadda ya know?

A quote to sum up our hike:

“Sunshine is delicious,

rain is refreshing,

wind braces us up,

snow is exhilarating;

there is really no such thing as bad weather,

only different kinds of good weather. ”
