After the Rain

Sunday mornings are perfect for touring the gardens and taking time to see how everyone is doing and who needs help next week. Welcome to my Sunday morning ramble around the gardens. Clematis says hello.

When we came to the realization that mowing or string-trimming the ditch was something our bodies didn't want to do any longer, we let the grass grow and waited to see what would happen. Why not make it a pollinator garden? Many latent seeds like goldenrods and thistles started to thrive in the following years. As did these wild raspberries. Probably enough to make a pie.

Last week's heat and rain were welcome in the vegetable garden. We should be eating cherry tomatoes in a couple of weeks.

Cucumbers are coming along nicely after their rough start. A couple of the first ones planted are finding the trellis.

Tomorrow, I will dig out more of the Mesclun salad greens that have started to bolt. There is Swiss Chard in the greenhouse that can fill their spaces.

The row of pollinator flowers is pretty dense. Because the conditions are so good for transplanting, I might thin some out and move them to the flower gardens too. It's always a surprise when you plant pollinator mixes. I have no idea what those tall ones are.

In the blueberry shelter, things are looking really good.....

.... and when you zoom in, aren't they BEAUTIFUL?????

We will stay out of the mosquito-infested woods and just peer in to see the redbud tree loving the fact that it has more light this year.

I hope you didn't get your feet wet as we strolled together this morning.
“We do not grow absolutely, chronologically.
We grow sometimes in one dimension,
and not in another;
unevenly.
We grow partially.
We are relative.
We are mature in one realm,
childish in another.
The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward,
forward,
or fix us in the present.
We are made up of layers,
cells,
constellations.”
