And So It Begins Again.....

Last year was a one-of-a-kind year. We already brought food to Fare Share on April 30. This spring, we've had very little sun. Despite that important ingredient, we were able to pick 27 bags of mesclun mix salad greens this morning.
This is what the 4 beds of greens in the greenhouse looked like just after dawn.

This is what they looked like an hour later when everything was picked. "Cut-and-come-again" picking works wonderfully with these greens.
Don't you love Ted's rolling platform? He thought I needed help reaching the far plants. It works great!

Our sponsors today?
The sound of rain pelting on the greenhouse roof.
Hilda's Luck. It's a thing. The rain stopped completely just as I was finished inside the greenhouse. I was able to pick the herbs, rhubarb and flowers in dry conditions. And, it started raining again on our way into town.
There was a good assortment of flowers and greens this morning.

And, here are our odds and ends, ready to make someone's day.

27 bags of Mesclun mix greens
1 bag Swiss chard
8 bunches chives
5 bunches oregano
5 bunches rhubarb
8 bouquets of mixed flowers
Who knows how the 2026 growing year will unfold. All we can do is try our best under whatever conditions we are presented with.
