Cottage Life - Day 2

We have decided that playing Monopoly works really well if we break it up into sessions. We started yesterday and played it in 3 sessions, finishing this morning. For two kids who have never played Monopoly, the anticipation was real. By the time this picture was taken, Ted and Lindsey had gone bankrupt and Charlotte was close. This may be the first time I've won at Monopoly.

The skies were clear today. Fish were not biting at the dock, so the kids and their two friends paddled a canoe with a small hole in it 🥴 to an island nearby. One pike was caught today. A total of 7 fish between the 4 of them.

There are friends who, when you catch up with them for the first time in 6 years, it feels like no time has passed. Can you tell by the smiles?

And, seeing my grandkids' good buddies makes my heart glad.

After a quick paddle back to the mainland for sustenance....

.... and last minute instructions from Lindsey....

.... canoes were put in and....

.... they were off on another 3 hour adventure. Pretty soon, these kids will be heading back to classes, two of them to new schools, one choosing home-schooling and the youngest going into grade 6.
I have a feeling they will look back to these lazy days with great fondness in the years to come. It was a Huck Finn kind of day.

We'll end with a Mark Twain quote that seems to fit with everything above:
“I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.”
