Dyrham Park

Writer's picture: Hilda Van NettenHilda Van Netten

We headed back to England today, taking the M4, a 4 lane divided highway which allows tractors with equipment on it. Our first goal was to have yet another Sunday Dinner, one that was recommended by a couple in yesterday's outdoor patio. It was nice to get off the freeway and enjoy what is probably the last of the winding, narrow roads we'll drive on. Our driver was elated to meet their challenges.

We all had the need to be in nature and fortunetely, Dyrham Park National Trust site was minutes away from our route to Bath. Lindsey & I were particularly interested when we read that Dyrham park has a Dutch connection. They are really big into tulips and Delft Blauw pottery.

But first.... aren't those roses sensational?

No ruins here.

Sadly, most of the tulips were just finished.

Geum. I am posting this because I want to remember these plants. They add such an airiness to the garden.

Some of the orange....

.... and bicoloured tulips were still looking nice.

Aren't these Moorhen's the cutest?

The local Anglican church is on the grounds of Dyrham Park. Inside, we found some very quiet and prayerful people.

We are now in our second last home-away-from-home, a hotel in Bath. It's almost time to step outside and see what we can see.
