First Frost

Writer's picture: Hilda Van NettenHilda Van Netten

It seems to have come late this year. I am hoping that the spinach, being a cold weather crop, will survive. There is still lots to be picked.

The cosmos might make it too.

But, the nasturtiums were looking very down-hearted this morning.

Can you see how the frost settled on the veins of their leaves?

I've learned that I need to pay attention and look at everything from more than one angle. If I hadn't done that this morning, I wouldn't have seen....

.... her? him?

Our maple tree is glorious this year. It's fallen leaves are glorious....

... and it is glorious. It's taken 23 years to get to this point of gloriosity. Gloriousness.

I wasn't the only one to be enjoying the frost. My next-door neighbours liked it too.

I'll end with words of wisdom from Steve Maraboli. The season is changing and we all need wise words to take with us into the winter:

“If you hang out with chickens,

you're going to cluck and if you hang out with eagles,

you're going to fly.”
