We're slowly synchronizing with the Fare Share folks regarding transportation of veggies and flowers. They've lent us these lovely crates which we fill and transport to town. Cardboard boxes can only hold so many tomatoes.
I can't believe how dense the tomatoes are. It's a good year for them.
We've made a mental note to plant more cherry tomatoes next year. These are from one plant. There were this many last week too. And, I roasted a 9"X12" pan of them this week for the freezer. So prolific.
Our flowers have an autumnal look today. Late hostas are at their peak. And, there are two goldenrod varieties in the woods.
I saved a big yellow zucchini for supper. Zucchini Lasagna. Yum. Ever since we tried this recipe we haven't used pasta in our lasagnas. Good home for a large zucchini.
Today there was cucumber, green beans, cantaloupe, yellow zucchini, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, beets, salad greens, spinach, banana and hot peppers, bunches of herbs which included a surprise plant: sorrel (or Maggi for you Dutchies) plus 14 bunches of flowers. 124 lbs. Thank you, gardens.
I'll end with words from Mahatma Gandhi.
“There are people in the world so hungry,
that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread.”
Or zucchinis.
