Ted wanted to drive to Colborne to see the results of the recent fire and I wanted to go for a walk. We compromised by doing both. We chose to park near the Baltimore Flour Mill and walk to the end of the road you see above - 1/2 km if you are generous. There is some roadwork going on at the end which is pretty interesting.
Well, sometimes best intentions get side-tracked. We wondered why the door on the second floor of the mill was open? (See above image.) It didn't take long to figure out why. Someone was putting his patriotic sentiments out for all to see.

We chatted from a distance and he, the owner of the mill, invited us to see inside. The outside is pretty cool. We were curious to see the inside.
And isn't that the most wonderful blue sky? A Canadian sky.

Inside were some of the largest beams we've ever seen. Just as good as the day they were hand-hewn. They came from just up the hill from the mill.
This gentleman has owned the mill for quite some time. He still has dreams for it.

Next to a window there was a list of farmers' names. They would have had their name stencilled on their bags of flour in the 1800's. When the mill was operational, there was a barrel maker in the village and flour was shipped in barrels to England.

One of the millstones has seen better days. Just think of the stories that millstone could tell.

The owner was happy to pose for a picture.

And, we went on to see the road builders' progress. Hmmm..... not done yet.
