Looking for Blossoms

Believe it or not, Ted has had a hankering to see some apple blossoms and even better, lilac blossoms. Because he was feeling up to it, today was the day! Yay! Soon after picking up our adventure budy, we were treated to apple blossoms to no end. They look like they might be slightly past their peak, but still pretty impressive.

Our destination was the tiny village of Milford in Prince Edward County. Two reasons. 1. there are some nice lilac-edged roads in that neighbourhood and, 2. PECish Bakery. Sadly, when we got to the bakery they were closed. We had read their website incorrectly. Oh well!

There are many tiny villages in The County. Cherry Valley is one of my favourites. I feel like I am stepping back 100 years in time. Maybe 200 years.

After perusing the Little Free Library that matched its host house, we turned around and there across the street was a park....

.... with beautiful old-fashioned flowers like Lunaria.....

.... and a 200 year old graveyard! 1826 is when this graveyard opened. It's huge. Over 6,000 memorials.

And, there were lilacs around the edges!

Some were picked to enjoy on the way home.

So, lunch was not at PECish bakery, but Bailey's Dining, just outside of Picton did a good job of filling our stomachs with tasty food.

And, blossoms of another colour brightened our way home.

Blossoms everywhere. It was a good morning.

“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy;

they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”

Marcel Proust
