This morning a Black Swallowtail butterfly flitted in front of Ted and landed in the garden. It allowed me to take a few photos and then went on its way.

I think these flowers are Ipheion - white starflowers. I've never used them in a bouquet. Surprise! Surprise! They last for a long time. They will be part of tomorrow's bouquets for Fare Share. As you can see, the Forget-me-nots are in their final days for this year. I'll probably include some of them because of their beautiful blue colour.

I don't remember a spring when the flowers have lasted so long. That will probably be coming to an end as we finally get some warmer temperatures in the coming days.

Some of the tall bearded irises have started to bloom.....

.... as are some of the Canadian wild flowers that I started a few years ago.

The Siberian Iris below nearly was killed a few winters ago when the weather was too cold for it. A few rhyzomes survived and now they are putting on a nice show. This colour seems to be a little less hardy than the lighter purple ones.

In the background below are the very vigorous white re-blooming irises. They are very happy every where I have planted them. Thank you, Jen.

Columbines will be in the bouquets too. They look like a flower that you would give to a princess.

I'll use lots of Horse Tail and Lilies of the Valley for filler tomorrow and these spirea will be in their glory too. What fun!

And, we will end our time together with some words of wisdom from A.A. Milne:

“Weeds are flowers, too,

once you get to know them.”
