Today is our 45th wedding anniversary. We've already had lunch with some of our adventure buddies last week to start the celebrations and we will get together with our busy kids/grandkids in September to end them. But, for today, an adventure with new sights and tastes was in order. Going somewhere totally new and tasting new foods will fix the day in our minds.

One can only hope.

A crop tour north to the Lindsay Farmers' Market and a plant nursery new to us was our plan. Bean fields were being inspected closely as we headed north.

It's a wet day today. I could have photographed cloud formations all morning.

And, wheat fields are beginning to ripen.

There was a steady rain by the time we parked in Lindsay. These sycamore trees are "Recognized Heritage" trees. They were planted in 1892.

Ted thought they were pretty solid.

Because of the rain, the market was fairly quiet. We didn't find anything for lunch there, so.....

.... we found our favourite grocery store in Lindsay, La Mantias. Hmmmm.... what will they have for our lunch? In both vehicles we keep a plastic bag with utensils, a knife and serviettes for such a time as this.

How can you pass up a square butter tart? We would give it a solid 6. Nothing like starting your meal with dessert.

Before finding a place to eat the rest of our meal, we stopped at a garden that is new to us, Anna's Perennials Nursery and Gardens. A gentle rain was falling when we arrived, but we'd brought our raincoats, so all was well.

We'd hardly started touring the show gardens when Anna found us and handed us two umbrellas. Thanks!

I have no idea what these flowers are, but I know that I love their flamboyant look.

Anna told us a bit of history of her gardens. They bought a field full of weeds 20 years ago and have been working on it ever since. The 3 acres! of gardens comprise a number of distinct growing environments from a pond with lovely pink water lilies to....

.... a very large shade garden. If you can't find a hosta you like here...

There are sunny sales areas and a shady one as well.

The paths loop around to the parking area where there is a large Mediterranean garden. Lots of gravel on the soil and hardy drought resistant plants. Isn't this a COOL plant?

We lucked out as we headed south along Pigeon Lake and found a vacant lot with a tiny view of the lake. Perfect spot for our picnic.

And, what new food did you try, Hilda? I have never had pickled eggs in my life. Today was the day to try them.

And, there's the makings of our lunch. Yum.

The dark package in the middle is Chocolot cheese from the UK. We will get back to healthier eating for supper. 🥴 Salads and fish it will be.

More back roads and more surprises on the way home. Notice the pretty blue blanket for her young?

A heavy fog was rolling off Lake Ontario as we neared home.

I think we will remember today.
