Spring?

It was lovely outside at 7:30 this morning as I did a cursory trek around the gardens to get a feel of what needs to be done. We've got a bit of a blue theme in the perennial bed. I will prune the hydrangeas in the background, but leave the rest for a while.

Columbines are coming up here and there. They make such a great filler in arrangements. And, bonus: they have a fairly long bloom time. And, aren't they great at catching raindrops?

Rhubarb will be ready to pick in a couple of weeks IF we get a little sun. Thank goodness for perennial vegetables. Chives are almost ready to pick too.

And, inside where it's a bit warmer, mesclun mix and the odd perpetual spinach that were planted in trays on March 5, and transplanted in recent weeks and days. are coming along slowly. The lack of sun this spring is making it a different growing season than in past years.

We will work with what conditions we are given this year and see where it goes.
