Even though Ted has had a few poor nights, he insisted on going to Lang Village for their Fathers' Day Smoke and Steam Show. If you have never been to a Special Event Day at Lang, you need to go. It "takes a village" to put on a day like today, and each year, it seems to us that the volunteers and staff outdo themselves to make visitors' experiences memorable. We even got to sample raspberry cordial (raspberries, distilled vinegar + sugar) and some rhubarb crisp. Yum!

And, going to Lang with friends who have lived experience with some of the artifacts there makes it even more interesting. Al rolled a tractor like this one when he was a teenager and almost killed himself.

Someday I want to take a workshop where you learn to make one of these barn lanterns.

I love how this gentleman matched the quilt he was working on. And, I love how he and Barb had a really, really good laugh. He told us that in the 1800's men who were at sea would often quilt or do other handwork to alleviate the boredom.

It was beautiful to see hundreds of families with young children having fun while learning what life was like in a slower time. And, slower it was. In the race below, the winner was the s - l - o - w - e - s - t tractor.

Old and young - the faces of Lang.

“It does not matter how slowly you go

as long as you do not stop.”
