Really.
Couldn't they think of a better name?
This is the Crowe River and if you have your wits about you (we almost did not this morning), you will find a spot where....
.... it cuts through the Canadian Shield forming a 230 meter gorge.
Today's sponsor is the sound of the gut. Now you feel like you were there.
The Gut Conservation Area is remote, hard to find and beautiful. Even the trees there work hard to look frothy.
There are places where it looks like nature is saying, "Take two." Doesn't it look like those trees are trying to be clapperboards?
You might be wondering if we have a dress code?
Only green coats allowed on this adventure.

If you look closely, you can see some icicles hanging from the branch of that fallen tree.
The terrain was pretty slippery. Initially, before it snowed, we planned to do some hiking further down the river. We decided to be safe and do that another day. It would be interesting enough to pick our way back up the hill.
And up..... and up..... and upppppp......
... which gives one lots of time to admire little vignettes like this tiny pine tree holding on to a ball of snow.
When we got back to the parking lot, very large flakes were falling.
I am beginning to like the name, Gut. Maybe it keeps the hoards away. Maybe it will remain pristine and wild for many years to come.
