On Saturday, Ted took me on a pre-mothers'-day outing. We started at the new Rosarya Bakery & Café. I may not need to go to Quebec for really good almond croissants any more. Oh my!
We took a driving tour to a land trust site and visited friends along the way. But, the icing on the cake of the day was to spend time in Cobourg's greenhouses. Saturday was their annual open house.
Around 30 years ago, Cobourg made the long-range decision to build their own greenhouses to produce all of the town's flowers. I think it was a really good decision.
If you look carefully, you will see that these are windowboxes. They will be going on Victoria Hall.
The head horticulturalist loves colour and believes that in nature, you can put any colour next to any other colour.
These are for the hanging baskets that we will walk among this year.
I believe these yellow beauties are called lantana. It was so interesting to learn how many different growing conditions are found in one town. There were plants for the beach gardens, ones for the shady north side of town hall, and others for the desert-like roundabouts on D'Arcy Street. An extreme amount of planning has gone into what will make our little town so beautiful this summer.
And, we got to bring home a memory of the day, a Wandering Dude.
I'm glad I got to wander with my dude. It was fun!
