Winter of Our Youth

We didn't bother snowploughing or snow shovelling yesterday. Might as well wait until the winds die down so you don't need to do it twice. Clue that it's bad out: Ted is wearing a scarf.

I needed to get out in nature today. One of my dearest friends is very near leaving this world. I am sad - heartbroken. A walk around the block was in order today.
There was a slight bit of colour at the edge of the fields.

Even invasive species have some beauty in winter.

As I made my way around the block, the weather got blusterier and blusterier.

It was wonderful! It reminded me of past winters on the farm and in my youth. Winters with lots of snow and beauty.

Our house looks like it belongs in Switzerland today.

Walks are a good thing. And, walks in the snow are even better.
I'll end with one of my favourite quotes:
“Hello babies.
Welcome to Earth.
It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
It's round and wet and crowded.
On the outside,
babies,
you've got a hundred years here.
There's only one rule that I know of, babies-
"God damn it,
you've got to be kind.”
