I spent 6 hours in our hospital's emergency department on Saturday. Possible Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation. Hmmm.....
Turning 70 has already brought a new challenge.
Yesterday, I finally got these babies transplanted. They'd been in cramped quarters for weeks. Looks like they are happy in their new home this morning. I am hoping to have greens for FareShare in a few weeks.
Work was happening in the gardens just after sunrise. In case you don't recognize these flowers: they are Haskaps. A cross between blueberries and raspberries. Aren't the bumble bee's wings wonderfully transparent - like little leaded windows?
Yesterday's showers are still making their way to the ground. It looks like the peony leaves are sharing the raindrops with each other. "I've got way too much! Here's some for you."
We have copious amounts of bleeding hearts this spring. They aren't ready for bees yet.
I love bleeding hearts. They have a very long bloom time and they look like shrubs. And, what's not to like about their name?
I wonder about the "No Mow May" movement. I rarely see pollinators on dandelion flowers. They are far more interested in plants like these Pulmonarias. I suppose if you only have a lawn and no flowers, then "No Mow May" might be beneficial for desperate bees.
I've already dug out a few totes of perennials to take to Lindsey's gardens, wandered around and photographed visitors working here, and now am writing this and having my morning coffee. I love this work/life balance ratio.
And......... I love this picture!
“One,
remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet.
Two,
never give up work.
Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it.
Three,
if you are lucky enough to find love,
remember it is there and don't throw it away.”
