Alone

And then there's the moment you look out the window and see the morning sun lighting up a lone blue wood lettuce. This is the first year blue wood lettuces appeared in our wild areas. All that growth in one season! I wouldn't have believed it had I not seen it.

That same sunlight prompted me to set up our fall "pumpkin sculpture". This one grew on its own in the compost from last year's discarded pumpkin sculpture. To me, it looks like the garden is raising up an offering.

Because I started paying more attention to our re-wilded areas last year, I have an idea of which mushrooms grow when and where this year. Last year, these common stinkhorns were some of the first mushrooms to appear. Well, whadda ya know? They are in the same place this year.

I almost missed these little cuties. Compare them to the blade of grass. Pretty small, aren't they?

Some of the maples are beginning to turn colour.

And, around the pond, someone was waiting for me. Alone - waiting for me.

Oh look! Someones were waiting.

Alone Together. Inspired by my friend, B.D. Colen's series.
