I have had the sense that we are spiralling closer to home these days. A trip to Cornwall seemed very long yesterday. We could have done it in half the time, but the Thousand Islands Parkway and the Long Sault Parkway were too strong attractions to pass over.
For me, a road trip and egg salad sandwiches go hand in hand. We found a nice lookout along the St. Lawrence River for lunch.

One reason we chose Cornwall was because our camping buddies are staying in McLaren Park this week. McLaren is part of the Parks of the St. Lawrence, many of which we have camped in over the past 25 years. We no longer camp, so finding an Airbnb was our alternate choice.
Another reason for staying in Cornwall was that we hoped to see some freighters passing by. And there, through the smokey haze was our first one!

It was difficult to find an airbnb with two beds for this week. Cornwall was not our first choice of places to stay because we have bad memories of a former stay in this city. In 2005, our almost-two-year-old truck was stolen here.
I knew I'd seen an interesting sign on the outskirts of Cornwall in recent years. And, yes... there it was!
Hmmmmm...... not every city needs signs like this. Thank goodness.
I took a picture of the truck and license plate outside our residence.

It looks like we have landed at the home of a kindred spirit. Look at those gardens!

Our home for the next 3 days is an apartment over the landowner's garage. Right on the river! Be still my heart.

We were wondering if we'd see freighters from our balcony! Imagine our delight when we saw this one. And, somewhere around midnight, I looked out and saw a strange configuration of lights - moving lights! Another one!

This is going to be a nice transition from camping.
If our truck does not get stolen.
