Our favourite farmers' market anywhere that we've traveled is the Marché Godefroy in St. Gregoire. Whenever we've traveled to Quebec, we plan the trip so that we are able to attend this market. Fortunately, they are open on the Labour Day Monday. That's today!
We always wonder if it will still be wonderful.
Well, today it was just as wonderful, but in different ways. Old favourite vendors were still there and ones we hadn't tried in the past were equally as good. It's one of those places where you could spin around, point your finger to something, buy it and be confident that it will taste amazing. Not too many places are like that.
For lunch, we tried a couple of Mexican meals. Yum!
I'll never understand how some groups of people are so tidy and environmentally responsible and others aren't. We've been in Quebec since last Thursday. I don't know if I could fill a grocery bag with trash found on the ground. Compare that to our home county where we filled around 35 garbage bags this spring just around the commuter parking lot. Below is one of a few recycling stations for plastic plates from the various prepared food vendors. Hundreds of people were enjoying picnics under the trees around the market. Not one piece of garbage on the ground.
Marché Godefroy feels welcoming and exciting to me. We met a young robotics engineer who has a sideline with his wife making home-made pastas and sauces. We took two home for the next two dinners. So good!!!!
And, even though he offered us some of their desserts, we couldn't pass up our favourite dessert vendor. I randomly dream of these tasty treats. Can you guess which ones came home with us? That's right. They just followed us home.
And, they didn't drive a slingshot.
They shivered in our cooler until it was time to open the box at our new campground.
The first thing we always do after setting up the trailer here is to connect to marinetraffic.com. The image is a bit fuzzy because I was too lazy to take a screen shot. We are in Deschaillons Sur Saint Laurent - top middle of image. I couldn't believe it when I navigated to this part of the St. Lawrence and there was a boat right across from us. I looked out the back window and.....
.... there it was!
A few minutes later, this one appeared from the west.
We'll probably not get too physical while here. There's a heat warning for the next few days. Maybe we will just watch the river flow by and see the sun set.
Oh, and our sponsor? The Beatles cover band with French accents at the farmers' market.
