This afternoon, I walked up four flights of stairs to the Art Gallery of Northumberland (yes the ceilings are so high that there are two flights/floor) to see a show that's been on my radar. Not taking the elevator seemed like a good way to start.
The photography exhibition is called, "How Far Would You Go?"
The show was created "through the lens" of Photovoice, a United Kingdom organization. Here is their vision: "PhotoVoice’s vision is for a world in which everybody has the opportunity to represent themselves and tell their own story."
The show circles around one room with maybe a dozen photographs to engage with. I don't want to give away the show, but hope you will get a taste of it and want to see it for yourself. The opening reception will be this coming Saturday, March 11 at 1 p.m.
These 3 photographs caused me to think.
How far would you go? After the End of the Road.
How far would you go? To get home.
How far would you go? To not be alone.
I wanted to be influenced and have my heart softened by this show. I am hoping it sticks.
