Making Good Memories

“Some things don't last forever,

but some things do.

Like a good song,

or a good book,

or a good memory you can take out and unfold in your darkest times,

pressing down on the corners and peering in close,

hoping you still recognize the person you see there.”

Sarah Dessen, This Lullaby

Farran Park is our favourite park along the St. Lawrence.

After supper, we headed west on our bikes along the Waterfront Trail. It runs right through the park. How wonderful.

Tomorrow morning, there will be a different light. This evening's light allowed us to just catch glimpses of wildlife, almost silhouettes. Like this whatever-it-is walking on the water lily leaves.

A few ducks were making their way around the lilies tonight.

A Great Blue Heron flew ahead of us as we biked. I never did get a picture of it. This egret was not afraid of us.

Do you see the ducks?

If I stopped to take pictures, I was eaten alive by mosquitoes. Ted kept biking slowly whenever I stopped. Then, I raced to catch up to him.

The sun was starting to set. A little glimpse over the trees.

And, a glimpse through the trees. It looks like the trees are trying to make their own sun shape. Do you see it? It even has its own reflection.

This is our last time camping at Farran. After this season, we will sell our trailer. Gettin' old.

This week, we'll savour the quiet beauty in and around this park.

And take lots of pictures.
