Blenheim Palace was Yim's only request for our two week holiday. We booked a guided tour through the house. It just happens that this month they are hosting and exhibition called, "The Icons of British Fashion". Many of the main rooms were dedicated to particular fashion designers where you could see mannequins dressed in original clothing from the 50's and on. What interested me was how the statues that normally line the walls of the main hall interacted with some of the fashion show's floral props.
Like this guy...... not too impressed.
And, this one. He seems to be mildly pleased with the goings on.
I don't know what is in the gentleman below's mind. But, I am glad for the flowers because my grandkids may be reading this post.
It was a dark and dismal day. Sounds like the start of a novel, doesn't it?
The gardens at Blenheim Palace, home of Sir Winston Churchill, are not as fabulous as at Cliveden, but....
.... they had the same penchant for topiary. Don't these look like birds nesting in the hedges?
Blenheim is huge. Many hundreds of acres. Lindsey's legs walked 14.5 thousand steps today and Yim's walked 18,076 steps. The guys below thought they were walking, but we couldn't see them move all the time we were there.
They remind me of the book, Hunger Games.
Blenheim Castle has a secret garden. It's lovely.
Near the Secret Garden is a well-trimmed and fun maze. We toured their walled garden which was nothing to write to you about. It had begin to drizzle a bit so we headed towards our new home in Chipping Norton.
Before we got there, Cynthia wanted us to see one of the highest rated farm markets in the UK. What a place! Good place for a group shot.... minus me.
These topiary are for sale and are all four figure prices.
Inside, I had to the opportunity to play Where's Waldo? Only this time it was an updated version called, Where's Lindsey? Clue. Her raincoat is red.
Our car was slightly full with our suitcases and backpacks. But, it was soon going to be fuller when we got groceries at Marks & Spencer in Chipping Norton. What an adventure it is to get meals there.
I want you to see how narrow some of the roads are.
And, I want you to see where we will be sleeping. This is Lindsey's and my bedroom.
I had to recheck what I paid for this lovely home. It works out to $88/person/night and we have a full kitchen with all kinds of extras like olive oil, milk, and wine. We have a fireplace in the living room which is now burning as we relax and read and write blog posts.
And, we'll be here for 5 days. Let the fun begin.
Or is it let the fun continue?
